Shaker doors with solid birdseye maple drawerfronts and dovetailed poplar drawerboxes. Frame and panel detail on the sides of the pantry cabinet and bookcase, as well as on the applied refrigerator panels. Cabinets change depth above the sink and above the range, a detail accentuated by the upper cove molding, in order to lend visual interest to the bank of cabinets. The bottom edge of the uppers are trimmed with a simple bullnose molding, with under-cabinet lighting behind. Adjustable shelving and lazy susans top and bottom. Rich soapstone countertops.

A complete painted poplar kitchen. The owners like drawers and this kitchen has fifteen of them, dovetailed construction with heavy duty soft-closing undermount drawer slides. The range is built into the slate-topped island, the back of which cantilevers over twin bookcases to form a comfortable breakfast bar. Against the wall, more large drawer sections and a sink cabinet are topped by a reclaimed spruce countertop with breadboard end. Open shelving above allows for colorful display of tableware.

A cost-conscious kitchen for an apartment. The owner did not want to break the bank on a kitchen for a rental unit, but wanted to keep the work local if possible. She supplied me with the quote for conventional production cabinets, and I worked with her design to get very close on the cost. I think she got a much higher quality outcome for a little bit more money. Maple veneer plywood with poplar faceframes, doors, and drawer fronts. Beaded doors and the wainscot island reflect the original wainscoting on the walls of the room. Adjustable shelving, pull-out pantry shelves, under-mount drawer slides, dovetail drawer joinery, European hinges, ceramic knobs, Formica countertop, drop-in sink. The island contains a range with downdraft venting and a raised solid maple breakfast bar, supported beneath by four corbel braces.

A breakfront display case with heavy-duty adjustable shelving. The piece was meant to meld reasonably well with the existing cabinetry below, while performing the specific display functions that the owner specified. The case features crown molding and fine elliptical arches flanking a square-topped middle section (which is set up to receive glass doors for security if necessary).
